Coming in Late 2025

Anchor North Shore

A new church going after the one.

WHY PLANT ANOTHER CHURCH?

The most generous data estimates suggest that only  7% of the Australian population attend church. This means that in the city of Sydney, there are over 4 million people who desperately need to know and experience the life-changing truth about Jesus. In addition to this from 1991-2016 Australia saw a net loss of around 1200 churches despite our population growing by almost 7 million. The reality is we need hundreds of new Jesus-worshiping, disciple-making, church-planting churches if we hope to reach our cities and nation with the beautiful news of the Gospel.

We have seen God’s abundant faithfulness at Anchor Church over the past decade as we’ve sought to share the good news of Jesus with our city. What began as 17 people praying in a living room in Erskineville has grown, by His grace, into a vibrant family of three churches in distinct parts of Sydney, worshiping Jesus and following Him.

And we want to see Him do it again.

"Our heart is to be a church that goes after the one: making disciples of Jesus as we see, love and pursue people like Him."

Meet James & Caitie Wong

James and Caitie have been part of the Anchor Church family since 2017 and James has served as a Pastor at Anchor City since 2019. In addition to completing Anchor’s Church Planting Residency, James and Caitie have been assessed both internally by the Anchor Movement and externally by the Acts 29 Network. Having served at Anchor City over the past 8 years, they are excited to step out and lead this church plant.

James and Caitie are driven by a deep desire to see people encounter the life-changing love and grace of God. Their heart is to see revival break out on the North Shore as the Gospel is proclaimed, Jesus is lifted up, disciples are made, and God’s Spirit empowers His people to carry out His mission – for our great joy and His glory. They would love to invite you to join them in this mission of seeing God’s Kingdom come in the North Shore as it is in heaven.

WHY THE NORTH SHORE?

The North Shore is a multiculturally diverse region of Sydney made up of seven different LGAs (local government areas) and with a cumulative population of over half a million people. It is a place that offers tremendous lifestyle opportunities and the promise of material prosperity, but beneath that is spiritually poor and needy. Recent census data suggests that approximately 42% of people who call the North Shore home identify as having ‘no religion’, which is almost ten percent higher than the state average. Our target location, the Chatswood-Lane Cove area, is also home to a higher proportion of young adults when compared to state and national averages and we feel called to reach and minister to them with the good news of Jesus. Simply put, we believe there are exciting Gospel opportunities in this region, and we look forward to partnering with existing churches and playing our part in what God is already doing in the area.
