Meet Ruth Shooter

11th June 2015 / City

We’re interviewing some of our Anchor Family to find out their experiences at Anchor and how God has been working in their lives. We’re pleased to introduce you to the lovely Ruth Shooter!

1. What do you love about Anchor Church?

I love that Anchor Church is a Family. We are a group of beleivers brought together by the work of Christ and the love of the Father. I love that the truth of the gospel has so radically impacted individual lives that together we commit to mission to see Jesus made famous in this city. I love that Anchor is a church founded on the truth of the gospel and led by the Spirit to draw us to the Father.

2. How has God been at work in your life since joining Anchor?

I have become more secure in who I am in Christ through the teaching and constant reminder of our gospel identity. As brothers and sisters, we gospel one another through whatever we are facing in life, which is so refreshing. As we seek to reach the city, my heart has been broken more and more for the lost and poor who are living without hope and I have been encouraged to step out in faith to seek to reach them.

3. Tell us about your experiences of being in community at Anchor?

They are my Family! I love being in community at Anchor and sharing the joys and trials of life with a group of people that genuinely care. I have learnt to share honestly, pray confidently, worship wholeheartedly and give to those who are in need. It feels like we are living the way God intended the church to live—in community, on mission, for the glory of God.

4. How does Anchor equip you to live on mission in everyday life?

Anchor Church reminds me each week of the beauty of the gospel and the power of God to save sinners like me. This truth humbles me and so causes me to share the same love and grace that I have been shown with others. I have been reminded that we are all called to be on mission daily. We are all Christ’s ambassadors and I have been empowered to use the gifts I have been given for his glory.
